Visit the Beaches of Tiny St. Martin

Sunday, July 20th, 2008

Visit the beaches of tiny St. Martin for your next vacation. Even though St. Martin is the smallest of the Caribbean island chain, it offers 37 magnificent beaches for the start of your vacation. The Dutch side of the island offers larger resorts while the French half of the island is much more secluded and intimate. So St. Martin allows you many choices when planning your beach vacation. No matter which side of the island you choose, the dance clubs, busy, noisy casinos, an abundance of water sports or even topless sunbathing awaits the avid beach vacationer.

You are in for a treat if you choose the Le Petit Hotel on Grand Case Bay for your beach vacation stay. It’s located next to the fabulous restaurant row which will allow everyone an opportunity to sample the local Caribbean food with the added Dutch and French influences. Le Petit Hotel decided on classic modern architecture rather than the usual Caribbean décor but they did not forget the proximity of the beaches. Pick from 10 different suites which are only a few paces from the beach.

Stay at the Hotel L’Esplanade for picture perfect views from the Juliet-style balcony overlooking the bay. This bougainvillea covered hotel is just a few minutes walk from the Petit Plage beach. The lofts on the top floor are spacious and well worth the additional cost just for the views and sunsets alone on your vacation.

It’s your beach vacation so pull up a hammock or a comfortable chaise under a palm frond covered umbrella, sip a local Caribbean rum cocktail complete with requisite umbrella and let the stress and worry of your daily grind melt away and flow out to sea with the tide as a glorious sunset replaces the warming rays of the last bit of sunshine.

Try Oahu for a Quick Beach Vacation

Sunday, July 13th, 2008

Try Oahu for a quick beach vacation getaway the next time you need a little stress relief. Known for Waikiki, the coolest of all Hawaii beaches, Oahu has over 100 miles of beaches for you to explore on your next vacation. If seclusion and surfing are your mainstays, you might want to try the North Shore of Oahu for your beach vacation.

Oahu also prides itself on becoming a cultural as well as a culinary hot spot. The diversity of the population lends itself to many cultural and ethnic combinations. This is discovered in the artwork as well as the food choices available on this tropical island.

Just because you’ve chosen a beach vacation does not mean you must sacrifice the luxury of an opulent hotel like the Halekulani. They have one of the most luxurious spas in the world where you can be pampered like a king.

But if you’re on a budget then the Waikiki Parc Hotel, across the street from the Halekulani, is a good choice. Since The Parc Hotel is not located directly on the water, the price of a room can be a few hundred dollars cheaper. The money you save can be used at the Nobu outpost in the lobby of the Parc or an ocean view room upgrade.

Another good value for your beach vacation dollar would be a stay at the Aqua Waikiki Wave which is a couple blocks from the beach. In 2006, the hotel undertook a total renovation and now you can get free WiFi and even flat screen TVs. If you’re bothered by street noise, reserve a room on an upper floor.

Oahu may seem like a long flight away for a weekend beach vacation but it’s only a short 5.5 hours from Seattle, Los Angeles or San Francisco.

Less Traveled Beaches

Wednesday, July 09th, 2008

Beach vacations can start on some of the world’s less traveled beaches and end up being some of the best beach vacations you ever experienced. If you’re looking for adventure, then look no further than Greece and Shipwreck Beach for your next vacation.

The original name was Navagio which means “shipwreck” in English. This destination beach vacation is only accessible by boat and is one of the most picturesque and photographed beaches in Greece. Zakynthos island has a famous beach the wreckage of a vessel was marooned in 1983 and is still half-submerged in the sand.

Vacation cruise tours will actually ferry beach vacationers to this as well as the Blue Caves at Skinari which are huge grottos which are large enough for boats and offers terrific snorkeling and swimming to its visiting beach vacationers.

Jetting from Greece southeast across the Indian Ocean to Australia’s idyllic Whitsunday Island we find Whitehaven Beach, made up of 99.8 percent pure silica sand. This creates a silky, talcum-powder softness of the 4 mile stretch of vacation beach. Because of visitation limits set by the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority, this beach is nearly deserted most of the time. To even access this vacation area, you must register with a tour operator. Because of these strict limitations, Whitehaven Beach remains identical to its calendar pictures of isolation and purity in remembrance of your beach vacation.

For less traveled beaches try the tiny island of Bonaire where Scientology devotees Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes frequent for their vacation. The waters surrounding this tiny isle are completely protected as a marine park. This is why Bonaire is hailed as exceptional for a diving vacation. There are not many choices available for hotels but guests prefer the small Golden Reef Inn.
